Who enjoys being shouted at or hurt whilst trying to learn? Certainly not me! So why would we do this to our dog? We are positive reinforcement, reward based trainers who strive to make learning fun! If you played a game of connect 4, and each time you dropped the token in the wrong slot you got a slap on the wrist, I wouldn’t want to play with you. This is why we teach our dogs what to do, not what we don’t want them to do. It makes for a better relationship and a closer bond between you and your pooch. Using food, fuss and toys, we can help our dogs learn what we want them to do, and what behaviours earn the good stuff!

Our Cocker Spaniel suddenly became very hyperactive and unpredictable following an uncomfortable encounter with an off lead boisterous dog. Following a session with Bethany at The Canine Academy Training & Behaviour, we have seen a massive improvement with our dog. It’s been a fun filled evening and lots of learning and treats for the dogs! I now have much more knowledge and great tools to use with my own dogs and in the groom room for dogs that are reactive. We attended a zoom reactivity dog training course this evening.
Fantastic, informative and fun from start to finish.
Plenty of time to ask questions, and lots of practical, achievable goals.
As well as a well delivered presentation, that really made sense of what our dogs reactions meant, at the end we had time to be guided through some distraction and focus training with our own dogs!
10/10 from start to finish.

I would recommend anyone with a dog to take this session. There was something for everyone to understand and work on.

The first training session l and my dog had with Bethany was very relaxed, tasks were explained clearly and so were the reasons why such tasks were useful in the training process. Its shows that Bethany has a genuine love for dogs and she got my dogs attention from the get go. She instilled confidence in me that my dogs issues are resolvable given time patience and practice.

Puppy beginner course- Amazing training course from start to finish. Very thorough with information and very supportive even outside of the courses. My puppy has come on so much in the past 4 weeks. I look forward to the advanced course to develop and learn myself aswell as my pup 🐶

We completed an eight week training course here and it was fantastic! We learnt so many useful and important new tips and tricks. It was so handy to be able to ask any questions and have them answered so completely. Jerry loves it and was always so tired out afterwards! I am the owner of a longhaired standard dachshund who is now 17 and a half months old. He took his beginner's course with The Canine Academy and we both learned a lot. We really enjoyed the classes - four of them on consecutive Saturday mornings- at the very reasonable price of £50.00. We are looking forward very much to the intermediate classes in January!
I recommend this organisation very warmly and have done so personally to several people we have met out walking with puppies.
